[Reminder] Update your Statuspage API keys by January 31, 2026

G'day Sirah,

We're following up on a previously announced update to the authentication process for Statuspage APIs. To keep your Statuspage integrations secure and avoid disruption for your page mapped to the organization cial, you must transition to new API keys before January 31, 2026.

What you need to do?

Please create new API keys and replace any existing keys in your code or integrations.

How to create and use a new API key?

  1. Select your avatar from the top right of the management screen.
  2. Select API info from the menu that appears.
  3. Select Create key.
  4. Enter a key name - This name appears in the activity log and some integration messages, so it's helpful to give the key a descriptive name to identify which application is using it.
  5. Select the Copy icon to copy the API key to be used.
  6. Select Confirm.
  7. Replace your old key with this new key in all places where it is used.

What's changing after January 31, 2026?

These changes will apply to all Statuspage API keys after the deadline

  1. Query parameter support (important): Support for including api_key in query parameters will be discontinued. It will only be accepted in the request headers.
  2. Copying API keys: API keys can only be copied at the time of creation. The option to copy existing keys from the API key list will be removed.
  3. Token expiration dates: You'll be able to configure API keys to expire within a range of 1 to 365 days.
  4. API key display: The method for listing API keys will be updated and API keys will no longer be shown in plain text.
  5. Renaming API keys: Renaming API keys will no longer be supported. You'll only have the option to delete keys.

Cheers,

Statuspage Team
